In 2009, Doctors with Africa CUAMM, together with academic partners, institutions and associations, contributed to the creation of the Italian Network for Global Health Teaching – RIISG.
The main aim is to help enhance the health of the population and reduce inequalities among and within countries, through improvements in knowledge, attitudes and health provider practices.
RIISG ACTIVITIES
To achieve the general objective, RIISG undertakes to:
- contribute to the conception, discussion and dissemination of global health, understood to be a new paradigm able to theoretically combine and transpose into practice an approach based on social determinants of health, values of justice and equity identified in the Declaration of Alma Ata, an analysis of the growing interdependence between populations and countries related to processes of globalization and its impact on health and health inequalities both in and among countries;
- promote global health teaching at both academic and professional level;
- promote spaces and times for exchange and dialogue on Global Health with other disciplines (including Anthropology, Law, Economics, Philosophy, Politics, Sociology) and with institutions, groups, associations and networks at European level.
- promote a public debate on the themes of Global Health and build awareness among civil, professional and academic institutions to activate and support processes of change and transformation that can translate evidence and good practices into concrete actions on a large scale for the benefit of all.
